Gasterocomidae was named by Roemer (1854). It is not extant. Its type is Gasterocoma.

It was assigned to Cyathocrinacea by Johnson and Lane (1969); and to Gasterocomacea by Ubaghs et al. (1978) and Ausich (1998).
