Cybeloides was named by Slocum (1913). Its type is Cybeloides iowensis.
It was assigned to Cybelinae by Owen (1981) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (1991); to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Encrinuridae by Phleger (1933), Cooper (1953) and Jell and Adrain (2003).
