Dalmanitina was named by Reed (1905) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde O Ashg-u Sepkoski's reference number: 574]. Its type is Phacops socialis.

It was assigned to Dalmanitininae by Dean (1983); to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dalmanitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
