Taxonomy

Palaeopalaemon newberryi was named by Whitfield (1880). It is not extant. It is the type species of Palaeopalaemon.

Synonyms

Palaeopalaemon elegans was named by Sturgeon et al. (1964). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SE of Madison, Ashtabula, which is in a Famennian marine shale/siltstone in the Chagrin Shale Formation of Ohio.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeopalaemon newberryi by Feldmann et al. (2013).
Palaeopalaemon elleri was named by Howell (1957).

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeopalaemon newberryi by Feldmann et al. (2013).
Palaeopalaemon iowensis was named by Walter (1917).

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeopalaemon newberryi by Feldmann et al. (2013).
