Taxonomy
Monorakos was named by Schmidt (1886) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara O Ashg Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Phacops lopatini.

It was assigned to Monorakidae by Ormiston (1978); to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); to Pterygometopidae by Jell and Adrain (2003); and to Monorakinae by Ludvigsen and Chatterton (1982) and Holloway (2004).
