Taxonomy
Protethmos budaensis was named by Wells (1933). It is not extant. Its type locality is Shoal Creek, Austin, lower Buda Formation, which is in a Cenomanian shallow subtidal limestone in the Buda Limestone Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Epistreptophyllum budaensis by Filkorn and Pantoja-Alor (2009).
