Hoploparia canadensis was named by Whiteaves (1884). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Podocratus canadensis by Rathbun (1926); it was recombined as Linuparus (Thenops) canadensis by Schweitzer et al. (2003); it was recombined as Linuparus canadensis by Woodward (1900), Rathbun (1935), Feldmann and McPherson (1980), Bishop (1983) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
