Etoblattina reliqua was named by Scudder (1893). It is an impression. Its type locality is Pawtucket, which is in a Westphalian terrestrial horizon in Rhode Island. It is the type species of Pseudetoblattina.
It was recombined as Pseudetoblattina reliqua by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906) and Handlirsch (1922).
