Prodontochile was named by Kobayashi and Hamada (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov S Wenl]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Dalmanitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002).
