Taxonomy
Poteriocrinus dilatatus was named by Schultze (1867). It is not extant. It is the type species of Costalocrinus.

It was recombined as Coeliocrinus dilatatus by Ubaghs et al. (1978); it was recombined as Costalocrinus dilatatus by Jaekel (1918) and McIntosh (1984).
