Pseudocybele was named by Ross (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 795]. Its type is Pseudocybele nasuta.

It was assigned to Cybelopsinae by Fortey (1979); to Pliomeridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002).
