Psychopyge was named by Termier and Termier (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 983,1106]. It is not extant. Its type is Psychopyge elegans.

It was assigned to Acastidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002).
