Taxonomy
Callianassa waikurana was named by Glaessner (1960). Its type specimen is NZGS DC 219, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Waikura Stream, which is in a Haumurian marine horizon in New Zealand.
