Taxonomy
Protogryllus magnus was named by Zeuner (1937). Its type specimen is NHML I 11324, a forewing (male forewing), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dumbleton, Gloucestershire (Brodie coll.), which is in a Toarcian marine limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Protogryllus (Archaegryllodes) magnus by Zeuner (1939) and Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2012).
