Coronocephalus was named by Grabau (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 651]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002); and to Encrinuridae by Jell and Adrain (2003).
