Taxonomy
Melanecta anneae was named by Coates (1998). It is not extant. Its type specimen is GLAHM V8255, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Bearsden locality, which is in a Pendleian marine shale in the Manse Burn Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Melanecta.
