Peculicephalina was named by Qian (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm u Sepkoski's reference number: ZR91]. It is not extant. Its type is Peculicephalina jingxianensis.

It was assigned to Trilobita by Jell and Adrain (2002) and Sepkoski (2002).
