Taxonomy
Thionia was named by Stal (1859). It is extant. It is the type genus of Thioninae.
It was assigned to Issidae by Stroinski and Szwedo (2008); and to Thioniini by Bourgoin et al. (2020) and Gnezdilov et al. (2022).
