Taxonomy
Caeciliini was named by Kolbe (1880) [Spelling emended from Caeciliidae by ICZN rules to avoid homonymy with Caeciliidae Rafinesque, 1814]. It is extant. Its type is Caecilius.

It was reranked as the family Caeciliidae by Hong (2002) and Hong (2002); it was reranked as the family Caeciliusidae by Yoshizawa (2002), Lienhard and Smithers (2002), Engel and Perkovsky (2006) and Yoshizawa and Johnson (2014).

It was assigned to Caeciliusoidea by Yoshizawa (2002) and Lienhard and Smithers (2002); to Psocoptera by Hong (2002) and Hong (2002); and to Caeciliusetae by Engel and Perkovsky (2006) and Yoshizawa and Johnson (2014).
