Taxonomy
Austriocaris was named by Glaessner (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 531,619]. Its type is Austriocaris carinata. It is the type genus of Austriocarididae.

It was assigned to Conchyliocarida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Austriocarididae by Schram (2014).
