Taxonomy
Plagiophthalmus collinsi was named by Feldmann et al. (1993). Its type specimen is BAS IN.2216 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 7, southwest Lachman Crags, which is in a Campanian offshore sandstone in the Santa Marta Formation of Antarctica.
