Torynomma flemingi was named by Glaessner (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Koutu Point, Hokianga Harbour, which is in a Senonian/Maastrichtian marine horizon in New Zealand.
It was recombined as Torynomma (Torynomma) flemingi by Feldmann and Keys (1992).
