Drulanta pulchra

Discussion

Original description: Test as with genus, conical, elongate, with as many as ten post-abdominal chambers. Cephalis large, hemispherical, usually with short rudimentary horn. Thorax and subsequent chambers trapezoidal in outline, increasing gradually in width as added with final postabdominal chamber slightly decreasing in width. Cephalis and thorax imperforate,covered with layered of microgranular silica. Abdomen and all post-abdominal chambers with relatively massive costae fused between each row of pore frames. About eight to ten costae visible laterally. Pore frames square to rectangualr in outline, increasing in size distally.

Etymology: Pulcher-ra-rum (Latin, adj.) beautiful

Taxonomy
Drulanta pulchra was named by Yeh (1987). Its type specimen is NMNS (000109) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Suplee-Izee area, OR-536J, which is in a Pliensbachian marine mudstone/limestone in the Nicely Formation of Oregon.
