Discussion

Original description: Antecephalic part small, beak-like, seperated from eucephalic part by prominent circular depression line (arches) on the outer surface. Eucephalic part large, hemispherical in outline. Test wall comprised of relatively large pentagonal and hexagonal pore frames. Pore frames variable in size with thin rims and sides. Apical horn long, narrow,circular in cross-section. Vertical bar forming short, triradiate spine (pl .26, fig. 27). Feet triradiate, with three narrow ridges alternating with three wide grooves; grooves nearly twice as wide as ridges. Feet unequal in length, with shorter foot connected to dorsal bar. Two longer feet about twice as long as shorter foot.

Original remarks: This species is compared with Pseudopoulpus pessagnoi, n. sp., under the latter species.

Etymology: This species is named for Dr. P. De Wever for his contribution to the study of Mesozoic Radiolaria.

Taxonomy
Pseudopoulpus deweveri was named by Yeh (1987). Its type specimen is NMNS (000139) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Suplee-Izee area, OR-589D, which is in a Toarcian marine mudstone/limestone in the Snowshoe Formation of Oregon.
