Cretiscalpellum was named by Withers (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-l K Maes-u]. Its type is Pollicipes unguis.

It was assigned to Cretiscalpellinae by Buckeridge (1983); to Calanticidae by Carriol and Collins (2000); and to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002).
