Eolepas was named by Withers (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis J Tith Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Pollicipes rhaeticus. It is the type genus of Eolepadinae.
It was assigned to Eolepadinae by Buckeridge (1983); to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eolepadidae by Gale (2016) and Chan et al. (2021).
