Hexelasma was named by Lang et al. (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002); to Bathylasmatidae by McLaughlin et al. (2005); and to Pachylasmatidae by Jones (2007) and Chan et al. (2010).
