Loriculina was named by Dames (1885) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno K Maes]. Its type is Loricula noetlingi.

It was assigned to Stramentidae by Hattin (1977), Buckeridge (1983), Collins (1986) and Hauschke (1994); and to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002).
