Neolepas was named by Newman [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u , J Plie-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Neolepadinae, Neolepadoidea.
It was assigned to Eolepadinae by Buckeridge (1983); to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neolepadidae by Gale (2019) and Chan et al. (2021).
