Pollicipes was named by Leach (1817) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sant R Sepkoski's reference number: 346]. It is extant. Its type is Lepas pollicipes.

It was assigned to Calanticinae by Buckeridge (1983); and to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002).
