Taxonomy
Akicera heeri was named by Giebel (1856). It is an impression. Its type locality is Wainlode Cliff (Brodie collection), which is in a Rhaetian marine sandstone in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Phanerogramma.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Phanerogramma heeri by Cockerell (1915) and Kelly et al. (2018).
