Philoponites clarus

Taxonomy
Philoponites clarus was named by Cockerell (1915). Its type specimen is USNM 61409, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Brodie coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
