Taxonomy
Maeandra dumblei was named by Vaughan (1919). It is not extant. Its type locality is San Jose de las Rusias, which is in an Oligocene marine horizon in the San Fernando Formation of Mexico.

It was recombined as Diploria dumblei by Cairns (1991).
