Perspicaris was named by Briggs (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Cm uMid-l Sepkoski's reference number: 349,781]. It is the type genus of Perspicarididae.
It was assigned to Canadaspidida by Bengtson (1992) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Perspicarididae by Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2020).
