Taxonomy
Hymenocaris was named by Salter (1853) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto O Aren Sepkoski's reference number: 350]. It is the type genus of Hymenocarididae.

It was assigned to Hymenocarididae by Brooks et al. (1969); and to Hymenostraca by Bengtson (1992) and Sepkoski (2002).
