Aristozoe was named by Barrande (1872) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl D Eife-u Sepkoski's reference number: 425,1066]. It is the type genus of Aristozoidae.

It was assigned to Aristozoidae by Brooks et al. (1969); to Archaeostraca by Sepkoski (2002); and to Echinocaridina by Briggs et al. (2004).
