Taxonomy
Hebertocaris was named by Stumm and Chilman (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 425]. It is not extant. Its type is Hebertocaris wideneri.

It was assigned to Rhinocarididae by Rode and Lieberman (2002); to Archaeostraca by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhinocaridina by Briggs et al. (2004).
