Perimecturus was named by Peach (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-l C Serp-l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Perimecturidae.

It was assigned to Stomatopoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Perimecturidae by Brooks (1969), Glaessner (1969), Schram (1979) and Schram (2010).

Synonyms
  • Anthracomysis was named by van Straelen (1922). It is not extant.

    It was synonymized objectively with Perimecturus by Brooks (1969).
