Sculda was named by Münster (1840) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l K Ceno Sepkoski's reference number: 2,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Sculdidae.

It was assigned to Stomatopoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sculdidae by Glaessner (1969) and Schram (2010).
