Taxonomy
Ranina (Laeviranina) fabianii was named by Lőrenthey and Beurlen (1929).

It was recombined as Laeviranina fabianii by Beschin et al. (1998) and Beschin et al. (2006); it was recombined as Raninoides fabianii by Schweitzer et al. (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Beschin et al. (2013) and Karasawa et al. (2014).
