Taxonomy
Macrocheira longirostra was named by Schweitzer and Feldmann (1999). Its type specimen is CM 39683, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is RB40, Oak Bay, which is in a Priabonian marine siliciclastic in the Quimper Formation of Washington.
