Taxonomy
Hyas tsuchidai was named by Imaizumi (1952). Its type specimen is IGPS 74001, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IGPS Te-10, Toyotomi Well no 2, Saro, which is in a Tortonian submarine fan mudstone in the Wakkanai Formation of Japan.
