Taxonomy
Goniastrea simplicitexta was named by Umbgrove (1942). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Waisiu, Buton Island, which is in a Zanclean carbonate marl in the Sampolakosa Formation of Indonesia.

It was recombined as Parasimplastrea simplicitexta by Sheppard (1985); it was recombined as Blastomussa simplicitexta by Kiessling (2021).
