Taxonomy
Heterosubulites fusiformis was named by Nützel and Nakazawa (2012). Its type specimen is AMF-KG-291 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ichihashi Quarry, Kinshozan, Akasaka, which is in a Capitanian shallow subtidal packstone in the Akasaka Formation of Japan.
