Cyclocancer was named by Beurlen (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u T Mi]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyclocancer tuberculatus.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cancrinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer and Feldmann (2019).
