Cycloprosopon was named by Lorenthey and Beurlen (1929) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith]. It is not extant. Its type is Cycloprosopon typicum.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Goniodromitidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
