Daranyia was named by Lorenthey (1901) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m T Eo-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Daranyia granulata.
It was assigned to Grapsidae by Glaessner (1969) and Muller and Collins (1991); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Grapsoidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Beschin et al. (2018) and Schweitzer et al. (2023).
