Taxonomy
Pseudopolycentropodes virginicus was named by Grimaldi and Fraser (2005). Its type specimen is VMNH 730, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Solite Quarries (VMNH collection), which is in a Norian lacustrine - small shale in the Cow Branch Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Pseudopolycentropodes.
