Taxonomy
Etyus was named by Leach (1822) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi]. It is not extant. Its type is Etyus martini. It is the type genus of Etyidae, Etyoidea.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Etyidae by Collins (2002), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2012) and Schweitzer et al. (2017).
