Cancer coosensis
Taxonomy
Cancer (Metacarcinus) coosensis was named by Nations (1975). Its type specimen is USNM 170552, a claw, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 18284, Coos Bay dredge, which is in a Burdigalian coastal shale/sandstone in the Astoria Formation of Oregon.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000); it was recombined as Cancer coosensis by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
